Since the mid nineteen eighties fabric artist Robyne Voyce and painter Rudolf Boelee have collected furniture, ceramics and objects from the immediate postwar period. This interest led in 1994 to the acquisition of the Crown Lynn New Zealand name, which was the former trade mark of Crown Lynn Potteries Limited. As Urban Eye wrote in NZ House & Garden April 2009 an odd story how one day in 1993 Rudolf Boelee found himself the proud owner of the name Crown Lynn and turned it into an artist’s tribute to our iconic ceramics. He might tell it to you next time you are in Pug Design Store (owned by partner Robyne Voyce) admiring the Crown Lynn patterned tea towels, cushions and art. Mixed in with the Boelee-Voyce pieces (their NZR tea cup image is almost iconic in its own right) is an eclectic selection of new and pre-owned Kiwiana kitsch (tiki soaps anyone?), vintage clothing and European poster art. Design with a sense of humour.
